Glass Snow globe, wooden base, distilled water, plastic particles from the five major oceanic gyres, 10 x 10 x 12 cm.
(In various private collections)
Five snow globes represent the five mayor oceanic gyres where the currents are causing plastic debris to accumulate. The plastic particles are collected in the North and South Atlantic, the North and South Pacific and the Indian Ocean. As micro plastic is one of the most underestimated global treats for the environment and our own health it is preserved in a universally known tourist souvenir, like a time capsule for the future. When it is shaken the water creates a micro gyre making the plastic swirl around.
